Go Ahead, Pull My Tractor

I plopped down in front of the flat screen one day earlier this summer to see what wonders TiVo had wrought. That's when I noticed this:

So, I clicked.

Now, TiVo, I love you. Madly. Even when you spent many precious hours last year canoodling with the overnight lineup of the Logo channel (not that there's anything wrong with that), I forgave you. You are bound to experiment once in while. I understand. I don't approve sometimes -- especially when you short me the conclusion of "Rescue Me," you sexy technological whore -- but I understand.

But tractor pulling? Baby, let me show you what I REALLY like …

"I recorded that. Don't delete it!" said My Love, halting me in mid-fondle of my large, hard, black remote.

"Tractor pulling?"

"Whenever I get mad at you, I like to watch it. It reminds me how lucky I am because you could have a lot worse habits and hobbies than the ones you do."

I love it when she gets all "Nebraska corn-detassler who escaped the trailer park and made it in the Big City" on me. It makes me all ... you know.
Now, what's on Spike TV?
If you enjoyed this, fast forward to Humor-Blogs.com and hit replay over and over again, you beast.

  5. Oh, I can't help it. Watch this.

  6. Ok I have to defend thy sport here. Even though that may be loosly called a sport. My step son has been doing it since 7 adn is one of the best in his divison. He doesnt do one of those monster one just a old tractor that kicks out 450 HP. That is car ya'll.
Even though I have to agree with your wife. I can think of a lot worse things for my hubbie to do rather than play imaginery games onthe puter. I would rather have him take over the world on the computer than in real life. That would just be something more for me to do. Like I really need to be in charge of billions of people. Talk bout multi tasking.

  8. Actually it is a serious sport. My uncle used to run on the circuit, with his tractor named Thumper, like the rabbit from Bambi, which was painted on the hood. I kid you not. So don't you be dissing my family! ;)

  9. I loves me some Tractor Pulling. I loves me some TiVo as well. I mean, it's like the most pure love ever. It knows me so well. Remeber in the Frank Zappa album "Joes Garage" when Joe gets all freaky w/ appliances.....that's how I feel about TiVo.

  11. I watch reruns of The Osbornes whenever I'm pissed at Mark... it helps put things in perspective, knowing what Sharon has to put up with.;)

  12. Um...so is the Hugh Grant/Drew Barrymore movie yours?

My DVR is sweet. It's all "I love you, baby. Look at the way I record every episode of Dirty Jobs so you can not make me jealous licking the TV screen when Mike Rowe hunches down for you." But every damn time? It stops short, too. If I'd dated a man like that, we'd have broken up by now, but dammit if I can't stop with the DVR.

(seriously - the Hugh Grant movie?)

  16. I like this post. I had every intention of going over and giving you a big goofy. But this is what I get every time...

"Ok, we get it. You like Always Home and Uncool. Why don't you try rating something else now?"

Seriously? How do they expect anyone to get more than one smiley with shit like this going on? I went over for the 1st time a few days ago and gave you smileys on several I had read. Now it won't let me give you one today. I don't want to read any of the other suggestions. WTF!

  17. Living in So Cal, I'm not sure what a tractor is! And why would you want to pull it?

  18. Wow, she is a genius. I must keep this in mind for my own fella's sake.

  19. Oh man, I love TiVo. Life without it is a cold and savage existence. I've never been into the tractor pull (nor has my wife), but I have been known to TiVo some weird stuff.

Since we got HD, I have been totally into the documentaries about insects. Bugs! They are so freakin' cool in HD!

  20. I live about 20 minutes from the town that has the national tractor pull competition.

It's not to be missed--unless you have something better to do1

  23. LOL...my dh used to watch fishing shows on Sundays...FISHING shows!! I understand the appeal of fishing...you against nature, peaceful, quiet, reflective...manly...but I never got the appeal of fishing Shows! There were times I wished he was into football or something...I think there are groups for women who's husbands watch football...but not for those who watch fishing shows!!

  24. Is it sad that my first reaction was "How come MYYY TiVo doesn't show what station the show recorded on?" but I have an older box(ahaha the fun I could have with that comment) with the old remote to go with it, so I'm guessing that's the reason.

I turned the TiVo suggestions deal OFF long, long ago. It would record some really stupid shows and I didn't appreciate the shows I liked getting deleted to make room for the crap that TiVo was choosing to watch.

I must say, the entire post had me laughing.

  25. What happens when you pull the tractor? Does it fart?

  26. "Sexy technological whore" - great phrase. I don't have TiVo, but I live in England, where we only have one TV channel. That is a live linkup with Buckingham Palace. Man, that Queen of ours takes ages on the crapper!

  27. Maybe I'll have my wife watch tractor pulling ...

  28. God bless DVRs, Tivos or whatever the kids are calling them these days.

Me, I like to record CLEAN HOUSE- now I don't have to say I have a headache, the sound of niecy nash's voice makes my husband run in a panic from our bedroom.

  29. haha- I should steal this idea! My husband is into motorcross- but not into any other sport- so I guess it could be worse- he could like baseball, football, basketball- something that would be too time consuming for our infant filled household!

  30. Maybe she can make it up to you with some Ice Road Truckers?
