Only hours after I take schools to task for putting parents through endlessly lame band concerts, plays and choir shows and I have already found salvation!
First graders belting out a reworked version of Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody"!
Followed up with a rendition of The Clash’s “Should I Stay or Should I Go” that would make Joe Strummer sit up in his grave and say, “Wot? That’s a rocker, mate!”
See and hear it all over at “The Greatest First Grade Program of All Time” on The Blog o’ Cheese. (The link now works. Sorry!)
The only thing it’s missing? Muppets:
Kudos to Cheeseboy for teaching his students some awesome tunes and to my blogger bud Everyday Goddess to pointing it out to me.
I couldn't get the Clash link to work. Arrrggh!
ReplyDeleteSpot on, mate! That Muppets/Queen tune rawks!
All is not lost, my friend!
My Bic is Flicked and I am swaying to the sounds of Cheeseboy's First Graders and the rocking drum solo of Animal. Can't wait for the bootleg cassette to hit the black market. Awesome job!
ReplyDeleteKevin, I couldn't get there either. Here's the link:

That rocked!
ReplyDeleteThat guy is a hero of education. Subversive and constructive simultaneously. Rock on.
ReplyDeleteDeeply awesome. Even with Muppets, I don't think that rhapsody could've been any cooler. Teachers like him make me hold out a glimmer of hope for music/arts education in schools.
ReplyDeleteThat particular concert now officially trumps "Bugz! The Musical" as performed by my son's second grade class last winter. I never thought it would happen, but alas...
ReplyDeleteI love the Muppets! Here's a little secret, all those school performances don't improve much as the kids get older. Cool blog!
