What We've Got Here is Failure ...

stories matter

Things have changed in Uncool Land. If you haven't been paying attention, here or elsewhere, let me give you the 411 on what's been going these past several months:

We moved. Yes, during a global pandemic we left my hometown because My Love took a new job that allegedly required her to work in the office. Note I said "allegedly." It's close to 10 months since she started and she's still invading my territory.

We are nearly full-time empty nesters. L'il Diva now has her own apartment with friends in a Wicked Smaaaht City. Excitable is spending the summer back in the ol' hometown for a final season of playing ball and chowing down a Buffalo Wild Wings with his buds. Since they are both in college (yes, I do feel old, thankyouverymuch), so they move back in with us for a day or so whenever laundry needs to be done.

Dinger, he's still a good pup. We did have to ship him off to Rin Tin Tin Remedial Reform School for a couple of weeks when he suddenly developed a lust for leaping at moving vehicles, bike riders, skateboarders and the like. He's a better dog for it, and walks around the new 'hood are far more relaxed these days.

My career as a newspaper columnist has come to an end after 12 years, a national award, and a lot belly-aching on my part about the company's failure to promote my work or that of any of my fellow local columnists. "Budget cuts" is the official cause of death. In the end, though, I had the last laugh.

I hope to get back to creating more original typos here in the near future to let you into how adjustment to this new so-called life is going. I'll also be going through my archives and digging out some stuff that ran elsewhere that you may not have seen.

I'll be in touch.

  1. Crap. The Mister (aka Hubby) was also “shown the door” during the height of the pandemic, just when retirement plans were our hot topic. Needless to say, we are fish out of water, desperately looking for even a shallow puddle in which to regroup. I will keep a candle lit and send some positive vibes.

Oh, and I pity the NEXT fool who tells us that everything happens for a reason. 🤯🤬
